The Story Behind the Design

The Story Behind the Design

“When I designed the Ms. Lady Luck Collection, I knew I wanted every detail to be intentional. Anybody who knows me knows that nothing I do is by accident.

There’s always meaning behind it.

My roots are Mexican, and I feel incredibly proud to use cactus leather that’s both grown and processed in Mexico and transformed into these beautiful bags.

Beyond the materials, I wanted the design to reflect that heritage in a subtle but meaningful way. That’s how the handle tabs came to life. I was inspired by the shape of the nopal cactus.  It’s this oval, almost pointy silhouette, so iconic and deeply woven into our culture.

I can’t even tell you how many times we went back and forth with the manufacturer just to get those tabs right. It mattered to me.

I wanted them to resemble the cactus, not just any cactus, but the nopal because it symbolizes resilience, strength, and legacy.

I think we captured it, and I’m proud of that. That’s the story behind it.”
